Christmas tree cutting 5248820521_4b3fc05cd8_z FB       Three Bed and Breakfast inns in New York that are located          near a cut your own Christmas tree farm are offering a        promotional package for families visiting the area. Depending  on the inn, they sweeten the deal with other amenities such as:

– Discount coupon towards the purchase of a tree if the guests stay for three nights

– Lunch on the guests’ return from the tree farm

– Bottle of wine and restaurant gift certificate

– Discounted catered dinner

– Fifty percent discount on the third room night

– Tree prep and wrap for the trip home

This promotion turns a day trip to pick out a tree into a mini-vacation for the guest. By offering amenities such as tree prep for the trip home, you remove some of the hassle which might prevent someone from taking advantage of the special.

Hire out the tree prep to a high school student or partner with a local scout troop looking for credits towards their next badge. Partner with the local restaurant and the tree farm to have them provide the gift certificates. This is a win-win because you’re bringing them business that they might otherwise not get.

The 1850 House Inn and Tavern has done an excellent job of showcasing their special, called Sugarplum Dreams and a Tree,  in a promotions slider on their home page.  The promotional page that describes the special has information about the inn, the special, and the Christmas tree farm in a very cohesive and attractive layout.

While this type of promotion is perfect to implement immediately if you’re located near a tree farm, the same idea can be implemented in the summer if you’re located near a ‘pick-your-own’ fruit or vegetable farm, and in the Fall with ‘pick your pumpkins’.
